The main social issue is Estonian-language education and the preservation of the linguistic environment, which is viewed as a matter of national permanence. Stricter monitoring of the language skills of children whose home language is Russian is demanded before they are placed into Estonian-language groups, in order to prevent the learning environment from becoming Russified.

The speaker voiced concerns regarding steps initiated by European Union officials aimed at creating a surveillance society, highlighting worries about civil liberties. He/She also sharply criticized the repression of dissidents in Georgia, linking these actions to methods typical of Russia.
