Economic views support the introduction of a temporary security tax, which is aimed exclusively at developing defense capabilities and funding a major, one-time investment. The temporary nature of the tax (until the end of 2028) is stressed, and speculation regarding its use to cover budget deficits is rejected. Estonia's independence and sovereignty are considered invaluable, which justifies the imposition of the tax.
