Continuation of the first reading of the Draft Act on Amendments to the Act on the Organization of the Energy Sector and Other Acts (356 SE)

The session continued the first reading of Bill 356, initiated by the Government of the Republic, concerning the amendment of the Act on the Organization of the Energy Sector and other acts, which had been left unfinished at the previous plenary session. Since the debates were concluded, the leading committee proposed to conclude the first reading of the bill. Before the reading was concluded, the faction of the Conservative People's Party of Estonia submitted a proposal to reject Bill 356 during the first reading. This proposal was put to a vote. The voting results showed that the proposal failed to gain the support of the Riigikogu majority, gathering only 11 votes in favor against 52 votes against. Consequently, the first reading of Bill 356 was deemed concluded, and the deadline for submitting amendments was set for March 20th at 5:15 p.m.
